VP Customer Success and Revenue *filled

The VP of Customer Success and Revenue plays a critical role in driving our success and revenue growth, including core P&L responsibility. The role has three fundamental accountabilities:

Ensure we delivers on the promises we make to our customers
Optimize (and be accountable for) the short- and long-term revenue potential of each customer partnership and that of our overall customer portfolio
Lead our Customer Success team
The VP will be responsible for cultivating customer relationships in collaboration with the BD team and, once contracts are signed, assuming primary ownership for the customer relationship and the success of the customer program – both directly and through the Customer Success team. He/she will coordinate with our implementation and production support resources for each customer program, working collaboratively across Business Development, Marketing, Product, Legal, Compliance, Operations and Technology to ensure a smooth and efficient customer and team experience for all. He/she will be accountable for developing key program goals, aligning the teams on test, launch and rollout strategies and marshaling the resources required to initiate, support and grow programs and transaction volume. Ultimately, the VP will be accountable for ensuring each program maximizes revenue and profitability potential for us.

The VP will also be responsible for initiating strategic growth initiatives and proactively seeking new revenue and business opportunities with each customer partner. Finally, his/her team will be tasked with developing and growing Marqeta’s expertise in the domain of card program optimization as a core capability of the company, pulling together the knowledge and experience of the entire Marqeta team. This will involve detailed analytics, customer revenue modeling, sourcing and implementing automation tools, and running each customer relationship – and the overall customer portfolio – as a P&L.

Requirements:

10+ years experience in customer-facing roles, preferably in B2B contexts
5+ years with direct P&L accountability
Familiarity and experience with retail commerce and payments (payment card programs a plus)
Analytical rigor and an orientation toward data-driven management and decision making
Proven track record in effectively creating internal support for key initiatives through cross-functional collaboration and alignment building
Ability to lead projects independently from start to finish, working with internal and external teams to make decisions and maintain forward momentum
Self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong work ethic
A person of strong character and integrity, who can consistently represent our values, contribute to our culture and inspire direct reports to exceed expectations

Education: Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or equivalent strongly preferred.

Personality: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality deliverables. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance and craves high quality feedback from colleagues. Reliable, tolerant, and determined. Empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person’s point of view. At home in a high-paced, intense but informal start-up environment.

Business and Selling Skills: You truly love customer interactions, diving deep into the numbers and influencing people and outcomes. You make things happen and simply put, produce results. You excel in your communications, whether face-to-face, email, phone or otherwise, and can successfully navigate inter-personal dynamics with a variety of business owners, managers and stakeholders.
