About the Job
Responsibilities
Continuing on its legacy, we are a unique contributor to modern-day technology innovation. Here we perform academic-grade research, mature it in an agile fashion while testing market fit and business potential, and then commercialize the resulting technology in the form of product and services of our mother company, licensing the technology to other companies, or spinning-out companies.
In the System Sciences Lab (SSL) we specifically focus on research and innovation in artificial intelligence, machine learning, planning, control, and optimization with applications in cyber-physical systems, CAD/CAM, Urban Mobility, Energy, Aerospace, and Defense industries. The lab’s focus extends beyond invention. The team creates new business options and opportunities. We’re driven to get our ideas out of the lab and into the world and we need superb research and software talent to make that happen.
We are searching for a research scientist in digital manufacturing with strong academic skills to address a variety of research challenges in building next generation design and manufacturing software systems. The responsibilities for this role include
1. Participating in fundamental and applied research in computer graphics to invent new representations of manufacturable multi-material designs.
2. Developing and implementing algorithms (to interrogate designs) that scale with increasing geometric complexity, and scale to distributed computing architectures involving multiple graphics processing units (GPUs)
3. Participate strongly in software development from research to commercial grade code, including architecting the design tool software and maximizing efficiency for SaaS deployment.
4. Contribute to various projects within PARC’s design and digital manufacturing program.
