Grant Officer ESG Impact Sustainable Finance Nonprofit

The Grant Officer will support the management of partnerships with institutional funders in a fast-paced organization, with a primary focus (~70%) on donor reporting and grant management. The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer and critical thinker who can capture our work in a clear, structured, and compelling manner. The ideal candidate also has strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and a keen eye for detail and is a proactive problem-solver who takes initiative to consistently perform to high standards. This position also offers front-row exposure to the dynamic impact investing industry and what it takes to build this market. The Grant Officer will report to the Development Manager.

Responsibilities:

Donor Reporting
• Produce well-crafted donor reports for foundations, governments, and corporate funders that present the market building activities with clarity, elevating key achievements relative to funder priorities.
• Collaborate with Development and/or program teams to ensure compliance to and completion of grant obligations, including but not limited to key performance indicators, program deliverables, and specific reporting requirements.

Internal Quarterly Reporting
• Manage organizational-wide quarterly reporting by our program teams, including:

 Developing and/or updating internal reporting templates for new grants
 Gathering and ensuring high-quality, accurate, and relevant information/data
 Liaising with program staff to ensure appropriate and clear framing or presentation of activities

Grant Management
• Support and/or assume grant management for assigned portfolio of funders, including:

 Capturing and tracking relevant funder information, proposal and reporting timelines, grant requirements, activities, and workplans using Salesforce and other internal systems
 Coordinate with the Finance and Operations team on grant administrative details
 Corresponding with funders as needed

• Generate Salesforce reports regarding grant activity and deadlines on a regular basis

Event Sponsorships

• Coordinate with the Communications team and external event logistics firm on fulfillment of sponsorship benefits
• Liaise with the Finance and Operations team on execution of sponsorship agreements and payments
• Support outreach to potential sponsors, as needed
• Produce status reports to track progress against sponsorship goals for internal stakeholders, including the Senior Management Team

Operations

• Maintain institutional donor files and records, including tracking proposal development, grant timelines, payments, correspondence with donors, contact details, and other funder-related actions and information in Salesforce
• Support the use of Salesforce as the primary workplan and performance tracking system for event sponsorship activities
• Manage weekly and monthly internal team meetings, including but not limited to scheduling, coordinating agendas, and capturing key discussion items
• Manage internal Development team trackers, processes, and workplans
• Coordinate with other teams to develop, implement, and integrate organization-wide processes, as needed

Other Responsibilities

• Contribute to the donor pipeline development process, including but not limited to conducting research on funding activities and priorities of prospective funders
• Support or lead special projects as needed.
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated excellent writing and project management skills, relationship management experience, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deliver on deadlines. Exposure to fundraising work is highly desired. Exposure to financial services industry or impact investing a plus.

Other requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree required (communications or related degree a plus).
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience demonstrating strong writing and editing abilities, organizational skills, and strategic thinking.
• Proven ability to effectively interpret and synthesize at times complex inputs from a variety of stakeholders to develop compelling narratives.
• Experience collaborating with internal and/or external stakeholders
• Detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and high standards of performance.
• Team-oriented, professional, resourceful, flexible, and highly responsible.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite and experience in Salesforce or similar CRM tool.
• Experience with international donor community a plus.
• Knowledge of topics relating to impact investing, sustainability, climate, and/or social justice a plus.
• Conviction that for-profit investment capital can effectively address social and environmental challenges.

This position will be based in our New York City office with significant remote work flexibility offered through the hybrid in-person/remote work model.
