Cleantech Lead Engineer

Responsibilities

Lead all technical aspects of product development for a complex electrochemical HVAC product from prototype phase through product launch, revisions, feature engineering, etc.
Provide hardware design/development subject matter expertise, lead and coordinate various engineering sub-specialty teams and systems engineering resources.
Work closely with product management team to create and follow detailed product development road map and work plans, including accurate estimates of timelines, resource requirements, and budgets.
Coordinate with systems and test engineering groups to maximize value of physical testing and modeling efforts for rapid product development cycles.
Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting efforts to rapidly overcome performance, cost, and design complexity hurdles en route to productization of technology.
Coordinate with systems, controls, and UX functions to ensure high product usability, compatibility with existing HVAC systems, customer satisfaction, and market acceptance.
Champion DFMEA, accelerated lifetime, reliability, and other product robustness testing and engineering measures to ensure high-quality product and high customer satisfaction upon product launch.
Oversee design for manufacturing and cost-optimization efforts including designing towards optimized capabilities of supply chain elements and consideration of materials selection, fabrication techniques, assembly labor, and quality/reliability factors.
Project management of waterfall and agile/sprint-based product development efforts, including tracking progress and executive communication/updates.

Qualifications

MS in Mechanical Engineering or directly adjacent field of study
Demonstrated success bringing prototype hardware technology to fully productized commercial launch on an accelerated timeline
>5 years experience working in product development of complex fluid and/or mechanical systems
Superior critical thinking skills: ability to deep dive into cause-effect and complex diagnostics and troubleshooting
Structured problem solving skills leveraging inputs such as functional documentation (electrical schematics, control logic, gas flow paths)
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and systems across a broad range of hardware types
Facility with analyzing/evaluating CAD designs, physical models, controls simulations, and other engineering design tools
The successful candidate must be able to meet the requirements under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
